An Exciting Announcement!

LIFELINE’s launch is just around the corner (May 8th—just TWO weeks away!), and I could not be more excited.

The past two weeks have been “bru-tiful” (a term coined from author Glennon Doyle, meaning brutal and beautiful) as I’ve grappled with an increase in seizures and medicine changes, but also experienced the most incredible love and generosity from my family, friends, and community.

In dealing with the challenges of epilepsy, I have been very present to the singular guarantee of life in this world: it is fragile, and it is temporary. The only refuge available is the one we offer one another.

Over the past few months, I’ve had the incredible privilege of interviewing several artists—painters, writers, performers—who offer this kind of refuge through their art. If you haven’t already, make sure to go back through my posts and check out these interviews.

As LIFELINE finds its way into the world, I am moved to “pay it forward” in honor of these artists who have been such an important part of my book’s journey.

Through this process, I’ve also been exposed to several service organizations that provide a tangible lifeline to people struggling to pull themselves from the depths of suffering and addiction: The Mountain Center in Tobyhanna; Tuesday Tea and Textiles, Angels in Motion, and St. Francis Inn Ministries in Philadelphia.

This morning I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be donating 10% of my profits earned from LIFELINE’s book sales to these organizations and others like them in an effort to support the much-needed refuge they provide.

Writing this book was my lifeline during one of the most painful and challenging times in my life. It’s my prayer that the novel can continue to serve as a lifeline by offering a sense of hope for the possibility of recovery, not only to those who read it, but for those who benefit from the impact of these incredible organizations and the powerful work that they do.
